What is a 203K loan?

Under the FHA 203(k) program, the FHA guarantees, or insures, the loan, meaning:

  • You receive your mortgage from an FHA-approved bank, credit union, or other financial institution—not from the FHA itself

203k Eligibility

 Eligibility for an FHA 203k loan typically includes a credit score of 620 or higher, a stable income, and a down payment of at least 3.5%. Properties eligible for financing must also be at least one year old and require renovation or repair. This is a great question for your loan officer. We are not involved with the lending process; we just get the scope of work nailed down and, in most cases, provide you with a bid on your project prior to your contractor.
